Flammable Fabrics Act: The federal government enacted the Flammable Fabrics Act in 1953 to regulate the manufacture and commerce of flammable fabrics and other similar materials. This Act was responsive to incidents in the 1940s that involved injuries to children as a consequence of their clothing coming into contact with open flames. If a fabric has not been subjected to the testing required by the Act and/or has not been certified to meet the flammability standards set forth by the Act, it will carry a warning stating "Not suitable for childrens sleepwear," or words to that effect. You have probably seen this warning on most of the fabric you have purchased. Unless specifically stated to the contrary, you should treat any fabric purchased from Buttons-n-things, LLC as if it had that warning. We strongly encourage consumers to exercise caution so as to avoid exposure of any of this fabric to an open flame. If you would like more information, please contact us.
