Buttons-n-things...
...is a family-owned and -operated business located in the community of Sudden Valley, Washington. That's on the south shore of Lake Whatcom, about 8 miles east of Bellingham and just west of majestic Mount Baker. We're Patti and Joe and we're pleased to meet you.
As in most of the Pacific Northwest, handcrafting is a way of life for many in our community. The region is host to an extensive community of Native American artisans as well. We began as handcrafters ourselves, selling our creations at a number of fairs and expos in the area. Our specialty was custom-crafting quilts, crib accessories, and more for our loyal customers. Before long, the demand became such that we no longer had the time—or the stamina—to be on the road at fairs as much we had been.
As we created more and more specialty items, we found that we had accumulated quite a bit of fabric with no end in sight. We light-heartedly told each other that maybe we should sell it online. The rest is, well..., history.
